From Richard A. Walkers flight jacket. Now this is what I have been seeking for so long. A real picture of a circa, 1957 patch. Now we need some other era's before the right hand came along.

From Joe Dunegun, circa 1957. Taken from the cruise book.

Submitted by Gregg Bambo, circa 1958

Submitted by Carmen Sarge. From the '62 Cruise book. The one on the right has the sub going the opposite direction. I did that because some said it was not correct.

From the Hornet Page on the Internet. circa unknown.

This is not a '37 patch. I did this one while trying to come up with something for the '02 Reunion in Alameda. Shirley used one with the sub going the other way for her display in the ready room aboard Hornet. I used the hand from the modern right hand patch and flipped it.

This is the one finally excepted after many back and forth communications with the vendor and manufacturer. Time was tight so it was excepted the way it was. Not what I wanted but I guess it worked at the time. The one with the scroll was an idea that didn't cost extra so I had him do a half dozen. I kind of liked it but it was not as I remembered. I have one on a jacket and one for display in the 'Web Control Center 97415'.

This is a scan of an original patch from Carl at Plane Crazy Enterprises. He say's he can make some up. I like it but without the scroll. Five inch, of course. Both would be good if it is feasible.

The above patch was made by Carl Altevogt at Plane Crazy Enterprises. It was copied from an original of the early 1960's era. To purchase one, contact him at plncrzy@idcomm.com. I believe they are about $8.00.

Good job, Jack. Now we need to nail down when between '58 and '62 the sub changed course. P.S. I am wearing the one you made like the '62 version.

I forwarded your request to Carl at Plane Crazy Enterprises. I think he has them.
